Recycled Base Oil
Recycled base oil is used oil — like motor oil or industrial lubricants — that has been collected, cleaned, and processed so it can be used again. Instead of throwing away used oil, recycling gives it a second life.
The idea is simple: oil itself doesn’t really “wear out”; it just gets dirty with contaminants (like dirt, water, and metal particles). So, if you properly remove the impurities, you can recover high-quality base oil that’s almost as good as new.
Recycling helps save natural resources (like crude oil), protects the environment, and reduces waste.
How is Recycled Base Oil Made?
Collection
Used oil is gathered from cars, trucks, factories, and industries.
Cleaning & Dehydration
Water, dirt, and lighter fuels are removed.
Vacuum Distillation
The oil is heated under low pressure to separate the pure oil from heavy contaminants and leftover additives.
Hydrotreating (Optional)
Some recycled oils go through a chemical process with hydrogen to further improve their color, stability, and performance — making them almost identical to virgin base oils.
Types of Recycled Base Oil
Group I Re-refined Base Oil
➔ Basic quality, used for some lubricants and industrial oils.Group II Re-refined Base Oil
➔ Higher purity, suitable for better quality engine oils and industrial lubricants.Group III Re-refined Base Oil (less common)
➔ Very high quality, almost like synthetic oils.
